外形禿頂留須、膚色黝黑、面容粗糙，多數(shù)倭寇僅用布條或破舊衣物遮體，赤足或穿草鞋，部分頭目可能身披簡易護甲或扎甲。佩帶打刀、野太刀或大太刀，以及特制的日式和弓等等。
倭寇的“狂野”形象，與明軍（最后兩張圖）的整齊軍容，形成強烈的反差。
