記者從復旦大學獲悉,復旦大學建校120周年來臨之際,復旦大學材料系高分子專業1985級校友李平、歷史學系1986級校友廖梅夫婦決定為母校一次性捐贈10億人民幣,支持建設復旦大學學敏高等研究院。
學敏高等研究院定位為世界頂尖的自然科學領域高水平基礎研究和交叉研究機構,以交叉性、前沿性、國際化為建設宗旨,致力成為世界頂尖的科技創新策源地,為國家高水平科技自立自強、建設世界科技強國,貢獻復旦力量。

“我們希望為學校捐助一個項目。這個項目應該是比較困難的——在學術上有挑戰性,需要花費很久時間,需要很多財力支持,但是會產生深遠的社會影響。我們把它當作我們的社會責任?!绷蚊愤@樣闡釋他們在尋找的項目。
"We have been looking for such a donation program at Fudan, which we expect to be academically challenging, time-consuming, and financially demanding, but can have a profound effect on society. We would regard it as our social responsibility," said Liao Mei, an alumnus in the class of 1986 from the Department of History at Fudan University.
去年11月,李平、廖梅夫婦回到母校,第一次從學??蒲胸撠熑四抢锫犝f了學校高起點建設研究院的構想。在與校領導多次深入交流討論后,夫婦倆覺得研究院的設想完全與他們的想法吻合。雙方一拍即合,夫婦倆決定捐資10億元,支持建設復旦大學學敏高等研究院,助力學校基礎研究和交叉研究。
“我們覺得中國已經到了這個階段——可以在自然科學、基礎科學領域,為全人類、全世界做一些貢獻。”李平、廖梅夫婦對此充滿期待。
Li Ping, a polymers major in the class of 1985 from Fudan's Department of Materials, is the co-founder of Chinese battery giant CATL. He and Liao first learned about the university's plan of establishing an advanced studies institute in November, and quickly hit it off after rounds of discussion. "We feel China has come to the stage where it can make some contributions to the whole of humanity and world in the fields of natural sciences and basic sciences," said Li.
學敏高等研究院的成立,是復旦大學積極響應國家加強基礎研究號召的重要舉措,也是學校邁向國際頂尖研究型創新型大學的關鍵一步。這對上海乃至全國的科技創新,是一次重要的改革試驗。
“我們將打破學科之間的壁壘,不局限于某一具體學科。交叉性是它最鮮明的特點之一?!睂W校科研負責人介紹,學敏高等研究院將致力于構建一個世界頂尖的自然科學領域高水平基礎研究和交叉研究機構,聚焦數學、物理、化學、材料、生物、醫藥、環境、人工智能、大數據等多個前沿領域,探索創新性科學理論、方法和技術,追求開拓新研究領域、新研究方向,不追逐熱點和論文。

面向全球招募頂尖青年人才
學敏高等研究院已啟動人才招募工作,計劃在十年內引進近百名全球頂尖的青年學者,尤其是博士畢業后5年左右的青年科學家,不限學科和國籍。
“我們將瞄準90后、95后甚至更年輕的頂尖科研人才?!毕嚓P負責人表示,研究院希望吸引那些對科學充滿熱愛、具有創新潛力和跨學科研究能力的人才,鼓勵他們交叉碰撞,打造諾貝爾獎級別的重大成果。
The institute is set to open its door to global best young scientists within five years after graduation from their doctoral programs, according to the university. It will provide support to help them carry out research with original breakthroughs, technological revolutions and far-reaching influences, striving for research results that can push forward the development of the society by leaps and bounds.

對入選的青年人才,研究院將按需提供各類資源與支持,給予長周期的穩定支持,期限最長為20年,確??蒲腥藛T專注于高風險、高價值的研究項目,無需為短期問題擔憂。
學術委員會成員、諾貝爾化學獎得主邁克爾·萊維特(Michael Levitt)認為,研究院招募的科學家是有好奇心、有韌性、懂協作的年輕人?!捌诖芯吭耗軌蛉诤蠔|西方學術傳統中的精華,成為全球先進科研機構的典范。讓來自全世界的不同學科的學者匯聚于此,開展深度、長周期、前瞻性的原創探索。”萊維特說。
The institute will also be equipped with an academic council consisting of high-level international scholars, including Nobel Prize winners. Nobel laureate in chemistry Michael Levitt, a member of the academic council, said he expected the institute to blend the best of Eastern and Western academics and become a global leader in advanced studies. "We hope scholars from various fields across the world can gather here, to carry out in-depth, long-term and forward-looking original researches."

上世紀80年代,李平與廖梅在復旦相遇、相知。他們是學校校園文化的活躍分子,在學生會的工作中并肩合作,最終攜手成為人生伴侶。
在學生會中,李平負責學校社團的管理,為校園文化活動的開展做了大量工作。廖梅主要負責宣傳工作,組織過校園廣播大獎賽。
同為當年學生會成員的楊增國,用“一動一靜”形容這對復旦伉儷:李平是個性格開朗、熱心腸的人,處事風風火火,雷厲風行,校園文化活動中總少不了他的身影;而廖梅則截然不同,安靜恬淡,講話細聲細語,是個典型的文藝青年。
本科畢業后,李平投身商界,是寧德時代副董事長。廖梅則在復旦讀了十年書,是著名歷史學家朱維錚教授指導的第一位國內博士生。
