東部戰區新聞發言人施毅陸軍大校表示，4月1日開始，中國人民解放軍東部戰區組織陸軍、海軍、空軍、火箭軍等兵力，位臺島周邊組織艦機多向抵近臺島，重點演練海空戰備警巡、奪取綜合制權、對海對陸打擊、要域要道封控等科目，檢驗戰區部隊聯合作戰實戰能力。這是對“臺獨”分裂勢力的嚴重警告和有力遏制，是捍衛國家主權、維護國家統一的正當必要行動。

The Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army has started inter-service combat exercises around Taiwan Island on Tuesday, according to its spokesman. Senior Colonel Shi Yi said in a statement that the command has deployed its ground, naval, air, rocket and other forces from multiple directions as part of the operation. The drills mainly focus on sea-air combat-readiness patrols, battlefield dominance, strikes on sea and ground targets, blockade on key areas and sea routes and other tactics so as to assess the forces' joint operational capabilities, the spokesman noted. This move is a "stern warning and powerful deterrence" against "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and is also a legitimate and necessary action to safeguard China's sovereignty and national unity, according to him.
