本周我們來學(xué)習(xí)與汽車相關(guān)的詞匯

1. gear/?gi?/

n．（汽車或自行車的）變速器，擋

搭配：manual/ automatic gears 手動/自動擋

change/ shift gears 變檔

雅思聽力5-3-1：What kind of gear change do you want? I presume you'd want a manual? I want automatic- I've never driven a car with manual gears.

e.g. The race car shifted gears and increased its speed dramatically after the break.

習(xí)語：get in/ into gear 開始更有效率地工作

e.g. He’s been procrastinating, but now it’s time to get in gear.

補(bǔ)充：procrastinate v. 拖延

2. brake/bre?k/

n.剎車；車閘

搭配：slam/jam on the brakes 猛踩剎車

release the break 松開剎車

e.g. The car in front stopped suddenly and I had to slam on the brakes.

e.g. She released the brake slowly.

n. 抑制因素；約束

e.g. Illness had put a brake on his progress.

v. 剎車

e.g. The driverbrakedsharply to avoid hitting the animal on the road.

3. hybrid /'ha?br?d/

n.混合動力車；油電混合車

e.g. The car is a hybrid vehicle that uses both electricity and gasoline.

e.g. My family decided to buy a hybrid car to reduce our carbon footprint and save on fuel.

補(bǔ)充：reduce carbon footprint 減少碳足跡

其他補(bǔ)充：

電車：electric car

油車：gasoline car

e.g. Traditional gasoline cars contribute more to air pollution than electric cars.

n.合成物；混合物

e.g. The film is a hybrid of science fiction and romance.

e.g. The restaurant offers a hybrid menu with both traditional and modern dishes.

4. road rage /ro?d re?d?/

駕駛?cè)碎_車時因?qū)ζ渌说鸟{駛行為不滿而產(chǎn)生的路怒癥。

e.g. I try to stay calm on the road, but sometimes other drivers’ bad habits can trigger my road rage.

e.g. If you feel your road rage getting out of control, it’s better to pull over and take a deep breath.

e.g. Listening to calming music helps me control my road rage when I’m stuck in heavy traffic.
