The Beijing Conservation Project Manager provides technical leadership and support to a business unit and plans and directs preserve management programs and stewardship.
The Beijing Conservation Project Manager addresses critical threats to natural systems and individual species, fosters cross-site learning among conservation community, and supplies conservation planning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to the planning process.
The Beijing Conservation Project Manager develops and implements conservation strategies and employs a full range of protection tools to acquire varying degrees of legal interest in land and implements a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities.
The Beijing Conservation Project Manager coordinates community support, ensures the maintenance of preserve areas frequented by the visiting public and coordinates multiple projects, sets deadlines and manages completion.
We’re Looking for You
TNC Beijing project, launched in 2023 based on the MOU signed between TNC China and the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau, is dedicated to advancing various aspects including superior landscaping practices, ecosystem preservation, biodiversity enhancement, climate change mitigation, nature education, and international collaboration.
In the Miyun District, two demonstration projects have been launched, focusing on close-to-natural forest management and optimization of bird habitats. Leveraging Nature-based Solutions (NbS), the objective is to establish a collaborative platform engaging multiple stakeholders such as government bodies, corporations, institutions, NGOs, and local communities. This platform aims to enhance ecosystem services within the Miyun Reservoir Basin, encompassing water conservation, biodiversity preservation, and tackling climate change.
Additionally, the partnership intends to explore the development of garden cities within urban areas. This initiative involves establishing multifunctional community gardens to conserve biodiversity, enhance urban resilience, and integrate cultural services. Ultimately, this initiative endeavours to serve as a model showcasing the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature in metropolitan city.

What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing staff or volunteers.
Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., media, government officials, internal scientists.
Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
Experience in training.
Must have valid driver's license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience is appreciated.
Knowledge and experience of ecology, landscaping, urban planning, biodiversity conservation, or related field.
Knowledge and experience of project management and planning are required. It includes: to develop strategy of project, prepare proposal, reports and other relevant documents, make annual working plans and budgets, cooperate with internal and external partners to implement the project.
Proficiency in organizing workshops, seminars, and educational events.
Ability to form a positive interaction mechanism with the stakeholders and to work closely and effectively with a variety of partners, i.e. government officials, internal and external scientists, local communities, medias and etc.
Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical means in Mandarin and English.
Be able to manage multiple projects activities with dynamic schedules and priorities and be flexible to changes in prioritization of project.
Performs tasks with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience and context.
Be dependable, self-motivated, well-organized, and able to work independently with respect to responsibilities and timelines.

Officer

What We Can Achieve Together
The External Affairs Officer coordinate and implement initiatives such as organizational knowledge management, internal procedures, network operation, and project coordination.
The External Affairs Officer help to develop strategic partnerships with relevant agencies and conservation organizations to advance The Nature Conservancy’s conservation agenda. They serve as a liaison and informational contact between TNC and governments, agencies, and research institutions. They build and facilitate networks, coordinate meetings, agendas, and presentations, and conduct other activities in support of a program and/or manager.
The External Affairs Officer help to provide research and policy analysis in support of TNC policy practice priorities and track policies and decisions that directly affect conservation goals.
We’re Looking for You
Further develops TNC’s policy-engagement partnerships with government agencies, academia, and think-tanks.
Supports the implementation of government relations engagement plans including maintaining conservation network, organizing meetings, political engagement opportunities and government participation in TNC events.
Works with conservation teams to track the policy trend and conduct policy research.
Follows up on the public fund opportunities and collaborate with conservation teams for application and management.
Manages TNC’s internal systems and processes to ensure that our government engagement activities are well coordinated, tracked and documented utilizing CRM.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
Fluency in English and Mandarin.
Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.
Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.
Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.
Experience working with partners/government agencies.
Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Some supervisory experience.
Multi-cultural experience appreciated.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience coordinating complex projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results.
Experience building networks, facilitating informational sessions, increasing internal knowledge and capacity, and identifying key stakeholders.
Experience, coursework, or other training in government agencies, government relations or public funds.
Self-starting, independent worker who can thrive in a decentralized organization with minimal oversight.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
